Lovely looking drive. First one was DOA but was immediately refunded and bought a second. Awesomely fast if you have a 3.2 port and gets warm when being hammered but not unduly so. Comes with two high quality cables.
I knew this drive was going to be amazing after already having the 512Gb model (which is also tiny and amazingly fast), the 2TB Rocket Q makes my laptop fly and the PCIe 4.0 Sabrent 2TB drive I just picked up makes my desktop sing! I've been using this along with an Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 and have been astounded at not only the speed and convenience of this little guy, but I picked it up just for additional fast storage. YOU CAN ACTUALLY INSTALL AND RUN PROGRAMS FROM THIS THING!!!There is no drop off in performance running a program or accessing anything from this drive compared to the blazing fast internal drive. Color me IMPRESSED and Thank You Again SABRENT!!!
He confirmat la velocitat d'escriptura/lectura, però m'ha anat fallant desconnectant-se del port USB, amb lo que he perdut varies màquines virtuals. Al final, l'he tornat, i m'he comprat un Samsung, molt més fiable.
Love these drives, extremely fast, though they do give off some heat! But I haven't had a problem with them at all.
I copied about 1.5TB of data (over 120,000 files) to this drive in about 2 hours. This is much faster than my USB HDD. The drive got a bit warm after a few hours of constant use, but not too hot to handle. This will make a great backup drive for my personal data, photos and music files. A great buy.
Unlike other SSD. This one stays cool. However my pc is a later model so the 3.0 is to much for my pc.
Came in cool aluminum can, for tight storage and safe travel. Nice polished aluminum finish, in a small brick. Dissipates heat well. Wish I had crystal stats, but seems very fast. Xbox X load times are way down (pro gamer)! Comes with nice USB a/c (adapter) to USB c for 3.1 step 2 speeds. No extra power needed, and Totally silent since it's SSD! Pleasantly surprised by this drive. Small but hefty and feels very quality in the hand. Would buy again. Only downside is the abundance of packaging.
I read some negatives about this in reviews. For me there are NO negatives about this unit. It does not run very hot. But I have not run 4K video from it for a length of time but have shown 2K video for a half hour with no excess heat. The included cable used for type C and USB3 is very sturdy and works perfectly. The drive seems very fast as it should be. It is very small and light. I have not needed tech support so I can't rate that. I use it with a 2012 Mac Pro with Sonnetech USB C pci card.
Not quite but still incredibly fast compared to previous USB and SATA devices I’ve used. A bit expensive but if it’s what you need, it’ll certainly get the job done and quickly too. Can’t confirm reliability yet as I’ve only owned it for a month or two but so far so good.
Was super excited to use this with my new MacBook Pro 16" (2019). However, over USB-C the device isn't recognized at all. If I use the USB-A adapter so I can plug it into an older MacBook Pro 15" (2012) it did connect but at less than 50% of the advertised speed. So then I tried using the same cable + adapter on a Thunderbolt 3 dock and the 2019 MacBook Pro. It worked (once) but I got even slower speeds (33% advertised speeds). So I then tried reformatting it on the older Mac from ExFAT to a native Apple format and plugged it into the new Mac. No better performance and still not recognized over USB-C.I tried several other USB-C cables and even tried USB-C through the CalDigit TS3 Plus dock (where USB-A worked). That didn't work and now neither did USB-A.The build quality seemed great, basically felt like a solid aluminum block. I was so excited to love this but if it doesn't work...
I know it's aluminum, but it looks and feels like a bar of silver. Quite a bit heavier than I expected, but the extra aluminum is a nice heat sink. Lightning fast, very nice cable. Pre-formatted for PC & Mac compatibility. I reformatted mine for exclusive use with a Mac. It has worked flawlessly so far. I have it connected to USB 3.0
Last spring I purchased a Mac mini 2018 as an upgrade to my older 2012, I decided to upgrade my 1TB external drive at the same time. I wanted something larger and faster and began looking for a 2TB Solid State Drive with USB 3.1 and a USB-C connection to take advantage of the new mini’s USB-C ports. When I first started looking most of the 3.1 drives were still limited to USB 3.0 speed due tho their internal drive bus and type. Then I found the Sabrent Rocket Pro, which was double the speed of most of the competition, it sported USB 3.1v2 capabilities and spec’d out at 1000 MB/s. The bus isn’t the only reason for the higher speed, the NVMe drive and enclosure used inside are the key differentiator for this unit. The Sabrent also had very good customer ratings, and the price is excellent so I decided to give it a try.The Sabrent arrived in a small, sturdy, and light metal box filled with dense foam, it’s well protected for travel and could be reused for packing or shipping. The drive itself is a small, sleek aluminum block with a single USB-C connection and small blue drive light (I might prefer the light on the opposite side so I can see when it’s working, but a minor quip). I hooked up it up with the included cable, it’s a USB-C to USB-A with a USB-C to USB-A adapter, so you can connect it to either a USB-C or USB-A port. The first thing I always do with new drives is test their speed, and the Sabrent Rocket Pro didn’t disappoint, you can see my attached speed test, it clocked just shy of the spec’d maximum — a screaming 960MB/s! The only drive I’ve ever tested that’s faster, is the internal SSD in the Mac mini 2018, which has an advantage of dedicated bus connection. I then copied about 700MB of data from my older external spinner, which was limited to USB 3 speeds, but still completed fairly fast. When I was satisfied all my data came across successfully I decided I was keeping the drive and reformatted it for APFS (the macOS preferred format), though the exFAT it came with worked fine some Mac Apps work better with APFS. I then tested one more time (same), recopied my data and renamed the drives. I’ve been moving large groups of music and video files and the drive handles everything effortlessly, the combo of an internal SSD for OS, and an external SSD for data is perfect. For the record I’m using macOS 10.15.1 — Catalina. An additional shout out to Sabrent tech support! The included cable with adapter is very handy, but a bit bulky for my sleek mini, and it crowds the adjoining USB-C connectors. I decided to try the USB-C to C cable that came with my iPad Pro, the performance was dismal. I then tried some other C2C cables I had and same thing. So I called Sabrent support and explained my situation, the friendly support staff asked if I was using a USB 3.1v2 cable? I hadn’t thought about that and said I didn’t know, but I’d be willing to buy a replacement if she could recommend one. She directed me to the cable I’ve linked below, it’s spec’d as 3.1v2 and 1000MB/s, it ordered the 1’ length and it works perfectly (but it’s a short 1’ you might want longer). I believe most of the cables rated for USB 3.1V2 or USB 3.2 will work, but I wouldn’t by longer than 3Ft/1M. So a good experience with Sabrent Technical Support as well.I’ll add one more ‘bonus’, at the same time this all occurred iPadOS 13 was released with a new feature of external drive support. My iPad Pro 11 is equipped with a USB-C port so I decided to try the Rocket Pro with my new cable, it worked perfectly, and I could move files to and from the drive with the IPad ‘Files’ App.What more can I say, this drive handles everything I throw at it, and I can even hook it to my older MacBook Pro with USB-A when I travel! If your looking for a fast external drive that can be used with a variety of devices and operating systems, look no further, the Sabrent Rocket Pro fits the bill! This USB-C2C cable works for me:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D7SP4T4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have the 2TB edition and it transfers files at 500 to 600 MBps consistently. It requires nothing but the supplied USB type C cable to operate on windows 10. The unit comes with a case for storing the drive and cables. The aluminum casing appears to be well capable to transfer heat. It also has rubber feet to help keep in place. Though the price seems high when compared to other storage, take into account the blazing fast transfer speeds and portability.
This has replaced a series of WD back up drives. It is half the size and weight, it is an SSD drive, no spinning disc. Have to replace WD drives at least once a year due to them just wearing out. I don't know how long the Sabrent will last but I'm optimistic. I only wish it had a larger capacity.
Love this drive. Perfect way to have important files with me on the go. It’s so fast you wouldn’t think it’s an external drive.
I have bought a lot of different SSD drives in my time as I like the speed and the fact that they are quiet! But this drive is a whole different SSD, so very fast it is amazing. I now use it as my main boot drive with my MacBook Pro because it is fast and has double the storage of the built-in SSD.It is an extremely solid drive and while it does get hot to the touch that is a good thing because it means the solid aluminum body is doing its job of dissipating heat.Highly recommend this drive, even though it is from a company I had never heard of before!
